R&C Congratulates Client, GSA, on Groundbreaking of Trump International Hotel
Reno & Cavanaugh (R&C) congratulates our client, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), on the groundbreaking for the new Trump International Hotel at the Old Post Office Pavilion on July 23, 2014. R&C served as GSA’s lead counsel in the negotiations and drafting of the 60-year ground lease agreement with the Trump Organization. R&C member, Barbara Wachter Needle, led the R&C legal team. Commissioner of the Public Buildings Service for GSA Norman Dong, DC Mayor Vincent Gray, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton and the Trump Family all held gold shovels to mark the groundbreaking ceremony. The Trump International Hotel is estimated to provide 1,000 new jobs and $100 million in tax revenue while renovating and preserving a national historic landmark. The Architectural and Design Unveiling was September 10, 2013, and the hotel’s opening is anticipated for 2016.
